Die Phoenix Foundation – das Jugendjazzorchester Rheinland-Pfalz pr\u00e4sentiert zum Saisonende 2013 ein spannendes und abwechslungsreiches Programm mit internationalem Flair zusammen mit zwei herausragenden Gastsolisten:<\/p>\n

\u201eIt happened to me\u201c – Soloprogramm von und mit dem US-Trompeter Terell Stafford, sowie \u201eJust like that\u201c – Soloprogramm mit Saxofonist Peter Weniger.
\nTerell Stafford wird mit dem Orchester in der Landesmusikakademie in Engers arbeiten. Das Abschlusskonzert findet in der Aula des Heinrichshauses in Neuwied\/Engers statt.<\/p>\n

Peter Weniger hat die Phoenix Foundation bereits im Mai dieses Jahres w\u00e4hrend der Fr\u00fchjahrsarbeitsphase bei Proben und Workshops kennengelernt. Eine erweiterete Neuauflage dieses Programms wird – in Kooperation mit der Bigband des Willigis-Gymnasiums Mainz – im Frankfurter Hof in Mainz zu h\u00f6ren sein.<\/p>\n

Terell Stafford spielte auf dem Montreux Jazz Festival, dem North Sea Jazz Festival, in der Tonight Show von Jay Leno, in der All-Star-Band von McCoy Tyner, in den Bands von Kenny Barron, Benny Golson und Jon Faddis. Er hat f\u00fcnf Soloalben aufgenommen und ist als Sideman auf zahlreichen Alben zu h\u00f6ren, unter anderem von Diana Krall und Herbie Mann. Er ist zurzeit Mitglied im Vanguard Jazz Orchestra und tourt mit eigener Band. Er ist Musiprofessor und der Temple University in Phliadelphia, wo er die Temple Bigband leitet, die bereits 2003 f\u00fcr eine Rheinland-Pfalz-Tournee zu Gast bei der Phoenix Foundation war.<\/p>\n

Stationen von Peter Weniger: 1987 Mitglied des Bundes-Jazz-Orchesters, 1994 Mitglied der SWR-Radio-Big-Band, 1996 Auszeichung mit dem SWF-Jazz-Preis sowie Quartalspreis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik f\u00fcr das Album \u201eTIP TAP\u201c, 1999 Professor an der Universit\u00e4t der K\u00fcnste, Berlin, 2005 K\u00fcnstlerischer Leiter des Jazz-Institut-Berlin, zahlreiche CD-Ver\u00f6ffentlichungen seit 1987, internationale Konzerte mit eigenen Projekten und als Sideman u.a. Billy Cobham, Maceo Parker, Lionel Richie, Mike Stern, Paul Kuhn.<\/p>\n
